Faced with growing competition in San Diego's ever-evolving restaurant scene, George's at the Cove underwent a nearly $2.7 million makeover that kept the dining room closed more than six weeks. The reconstruction has imbued the La Jolla fine-dining icon with a much more hip, contemporary decor that takes advantage of its oceanfront location. George's is following the lead of marquee restaurants across the country that are spending big bucks to court diners.
