LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: HUMANIST RABBI REMEMBERED

The Humanist Jewish Congregation of San Diego will hold a public memorial service for Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine, founder of Humanistic Judaism, at 10:30 a.m. today at the Woman's Club of Carlsbad, 3320 Monroe Ave. Wine died July 21 in a car crash while vacationing in Morocco. He was 79.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Sharp Hospice care needs experienced sewers to make “Memory Bears.” Families bring in garments of loved ones, and volunteers sew stuffed bears out of the fabric.
