Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain is a little too far north to be considered a Southern Californian resort, but really, it's the best mountain this side of Tahoe.

Bought in 1956 by Dave McCoy, Mammoth is the home mountain of many pros. The resort has spent $120 million in the last five years to bring you the ultimate skiing and boarding experience.

The Gondolas
The Panorama Gondola, a lift that moves you 2,000 feet in just under nine minutes, has two sections: base to McCoy Station and McCoy Station to the top of the mountain. Mammoth opens McCoy Station, the new mid-mountain chalet, in December. The chalet features a $5 million facelift, complete with a restaurant and food court.

Snowboarding
Less time on the lift means more time on the three full-time half-pipes and three snowboard parks. State-of-the-art machinery enables the crew to sculpt creative and challenging pipes, wherever they please.
