MISSION VALLEY – A suspect in a stabbing Monday in Linda Vista was being driven by his mother to a police station to turn himself Tuesday when he jumped out of the car and fled, but he was arrested shortly afterward, police said.
Chad Long, 30, was arrested about 4 p.m. at an Arco gas station on Friars Road near Fashion Valley, said San Diego police spokeswoman Monica Muñoz.
The victim, a 48-year-old man, was stabbed 13 times after his roommate let a neighbor, identified by police as Long, into their home about 3 a.m.
The victim, who told police he did not know why he was attacked, was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
The victim was asleep in his bed at the home on Quillan Street near Wheatstone Street at the time. He was stabbed six times in the chest and seven times in the back.
