La Mesa City Councilman Dave Allan announced this week he will seek a third term in the November election, three months after announcing he wouldn't run for re-election.
Allan, 52, said he changed his mind because La Mesa, like other cities, could see some of its revenues taken by the state to help balance California's budget. Allan, a retired San Miguel Fire District firefighter, said he would also like to be part of continuing discussions about regional firefighting needs in the county.
The two-term councilman sits on several state and regional committees that deal with police and fire issues, such as the public safety committee for the League of California Cities, the public safety and crime prevention steering committee for the National League of Cities, and the state's prisoner re-entry advisory committee.
“I think that's a good voice to have for the city on public safety,” Allan said.
