SAN DIEGO: The San Diego Chinese community will celebrate the life and work of the late author Iris Chang at two events Sunday as part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
“Iris Chang: The Rape of Nanking” in English with Chinese subtitles will be shown at UltraStar at Hazard Center in Mission Valley from 3 to 5 p.m.
Tickets are for sale at Soyodo Book Shop near Ranch 99 Supermarket, 7373-A Convoy Court and Sunbay Bookstore inside the Ranch 99 mall, 7330 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
The annual dinner banquet of the Association for Preserving Historical Accuracy of Foreign Invasions in China will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Jasmine Seafood Restaurant at 4609 Convoy St.
Chang's parents will attend both events and give keynote speeches at the dinner.

Foundation donates to graffiti removal
SAN DIEGO: The Weyerhaeuser Co. Foundation has donated $6,000 to a graffiti removal program operated by the nonprofit Urban Corps of San Diego.
Urban Corps provides job training and educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth. Its graffiti cleanup program operates six days a week and responds to complaints from a 24-hour hotline.
Each year, corps members remove graffiti from more than 4 million square feet of wall space and sidewalks.
The Weyerhaeuser Co. is the parent company of Pardee Homes, a builder of residential housing tracts in San Diego and throughout California. The donation was given on behalf of Pardee Homes.
Middle school to host collection of e-waste
TIERRASANTA: Looking to dump that old computer? Thurgood Marshall Middle School in San Diego will host a free collection site for electronic waste from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the school, 9700 Avenue of Nations.
The middle school will provide students, their families and the community at large an opportunity to safely unload their old computers, monitors, television sets and other outdated, unusable or unwanted electronic items for proper recycling.
