Two more people in San Diego County – a Del Mar man and a La Mesa woman, both 56 – have been diagnosed with West Nile virus, county health officials said yesterday.

That brings the total of human cases in the county this year to nine.

A 72-year-old Buena Park woman died of the disease this week, the first death reported from West Nile virus in the state this year. –S.S.
