VISTA: At least 200 volunteers from community emergency response teams, or CERT, will join more than a dozen police and fire agencies from across the county tomorrow for hands-on training in Vista.

The CERT program teaches people how to respond to emergencies in their communities, from treating a victim's wounds to searching for missing residents. CERT members also help with nonemergency projects designed to improve a neighborhood's safety.

Firefighting representatives from Vista, San Marcos, Oceanside, North County, San Miguel, San Diego, La Mesa, Escondido, Carlsbad, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and the county Office of Emergency Services will attend the event. –R.R.
