3 airlifted to hospitals after crash

UNION-TRIBUNE

August 18, 2008

OCEANSIDE – Two children and two adults were rushed to hospitals yesterday after a collision between a car and a pickup in east Oceanside.

The car was turning north onto Guajome Lake Road from eastbound Mission Avenue about 6:25 p.m. when it was broadsided by the pickup, Oceanside Fire Department Battalion Chief Rob Dunham said.

Police said the pickup ran a red light and hit the car at about 55 to 60 mph. Three air ambulances were used to transport three of the victims, including two children who were riding in the back seat of the car.

The two children, one who was seriously injured, were taken to Rady Children's Hospital. Two adults were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
