SALINAS – The embattled principal at Greenfield Elementary School has been arrested for alleged cocaine possession.
Greenfield police and Monterey County district attorney's office investigators raided Raul Herrera-Arteaga's north Salinas home early Tuesday and seized computers and other items.
Police Chief Joe Grebmeier says officers returned Tuesday afternoon and found two bags of cocaine in Herrera-Arteaga's right sock. The principal was arrested and booked for investigation of possession of a controlled substance.
A month ago, parents held a rally to protest Herrera-Arteaga's reassignment in the district.
The district attorney's office and Greenfield police have been investigating Herrera-Arteaga for weeks, but the nature of the probe hasn't been disclosed.
