U.S. C-130 makes emergency landing in Baghdad field

11:45 a.m. June 27, 2008

BAGHDAD – A U.S. Air Force C-130 transport plane made an emergency landing in a barren field northeast of Baghdad's international airport on Friday, the Air Force said.

All crew and passengers had been accounted for and were taken to a nearby air base in case they needed treatment, the Air Force said in a statement, without saying if there were any injuries. It did not say how many people were on board.

There was no indication of any hostile fire, the statement added.

The C-130, a workhorse of the U.S. military, carries cargo and troops. A damage assessment of the plane had not been carried out, the statement said.
