San Diego State's softball team tied a school record with its 41st win of the season in beating visiting New Mexico 1-0 yesterday in Mountain West Conference play.

The Aztecs (41-15, 13-5), who tied a mark set in 2002, lead the MWC by a game over BYU.

Christina Ross pitched a three-hitter, and Lindsey Marquez doubled in the run in the fourth.

Baseball

UCSD rallied for eight runs in the ninth but lost to visiting Cal State Monterey Bay 17-16 in its CCAA regular-season finale. The second-seeded Tritons open the CCAA Championships on Thursday. UCSD (41-14, 25-11) will play host Chico State, and top-seeded Sonoma State will play fourth-seeded Cal State Stanislaus.
