BC QB Matt Ryan throws for pro scouts

ASSOCIATED PRESS

BOSTON – Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan and dozens of other pro hopefuls worked out for NFL scouts and personnel staff on Tuesday, running sprints and throwing and catching passes at the school's first-ever Pro Day.

Ryan threw 52 passes, completing 48, with three drops and one that was overthrown. He did not do any running, opting instead to let his times stand from last month's NFL combine in Indianapolis.

Ryan is expected to be the first quarterback taken in next month's NFL draft, projected to be in the top 10 and perhaps even the first overall pick. Kansas City coach Herm Edwards was among those who watched Ryan work out; the Chiefs pick fifth overall.

Among the other BC players taking part in Pro Day were offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus, linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar and safety Jamie Silva. Players from area schools including UMass, Harvard, Bentley, Northeastern, Holy Cross and St. Francis also worked out.
