At the moment, the No. 11-ranked Toreros have won a school-record 15 straight games, the latest yesterday's 6-4 West Coast Conference victory over Loyola Marymount at Cunningham Stadium.
Highlights for the first-place Toreros (34-11, 12-2 WCC) included starting pitcher Josh Romanski improving to 8-0 on the season after allowing five hits and four runs – all in the fifth inning – over seven innings with nine strikeouts. Sophomore closer A.J. Griffin finished off the Lions (20-22) in the ninth for his 10th save of the season and 21st of his career, a school record.

San Diego State at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Aztecs (25-18, 11-6 MWC) slipped to third place in the conference, just behind New Mexico (27-18, 11-4) and TCU (28-15, 12-5). . . .
UCSD (39-11, 23-8) swept host
San Francisco State 9-1 and 5-3 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader. UCSD had 18 hits in the first game (led by Vance Albitz's 4-for-6) against SFS (7-42-1, 1-30) . . .
Cal State San Marcos (22-15-1) beat visiting
Cal State San Bernardino 5-3, then lost 13-7 in a doubleheader at Escondido High. CSUSM's Austin Way was 2-for-4 in the opener and hit one of eight home runs (four by the Cougars) in the second game.
Men's golf
Aaron Goldberg (La Costa Canyon High) finished tied for second at 1-under-par 212, but
SDSU ended up seventh overall at 19-over 871 at the MWC Championships at Tucson National Golf Resort.
Colorado State won the event at 2-under 850, four strokes ahead of second-place TCU. Medalist honors went to
UNLV's Eddie Olsen, who finished at 4-under 209. Goldberg was voted MWC Golfer of the Year. SDSU's Matt Hoffenberg, the MWC Freshman of the Year, finished tied for 26th at 7-over 220, four strokes behind teammate Johan Carlsson, who tied for 14th.

Despite managing just three hits off southpaw Christina Ross (24-12),
Utah edged visiting
SDSU 2-1 in eight innings to drop the Aztecs (37-15, 9-5) into a tie for second place in the MWC with the Utes (26-21, 9-5).
