CHARLIE NEUMAN / Union-Tribune Tom Minegar of Carlsbad reached for his radio-controlled glider while taking it for a flight on the beach just south of where Palomar Airport Road ends. The plane has a wingspan of eight feet and weighs 53 ounces.
