Calorie counter: Hershey's reduced fat chocolate milk

May 13, 2008

Hershey's Reduced Fat Chocolate Milk may boast less fat than regular chocolate milk, but it's still no nutritional bargain with 200 calories, 5 grams of fat (3 of those grams are saturated) and 28 grams of sugar in a 14-ounce bottle.

SIT DOWN AND SHRINK A BIT

If you want to slim down, then sit down. Taking a seat before you eat may help you eat less and shed pounds, say researchers at the University of Toronto. Two groups of people were fed a meal with the same number of calories. The first had lunch at a table complete with fine linens. The second ate while standing at a kitchen counter. The standing diners ate a whopping 75 percent more at their next meal.

TURN THAT SOUND DOWN

Now hear this: The safety limit for earbud use is no more than 4.5 hours per day at 70 percent volume, and that drops to 70 minutes if you're listening at 80 percent, say guidelines presented in the UC Berkeley Wellness Letter. Unless you're using special noise-reduction earphones, don't listen to music so loud that you can't hear outside noise. Listening to music at full volume for more than five minutes can damage your hearing.
