Eric Byrnes broke out of a monthlong slump with a homer and two RBI, Dan Haren pitched seven innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied past the slumping Detroit Tigers 4-3 last night in Phoenix.
Haren (5-2) scattered six hits and allowed three runs for the Diamondbacks, who came back from a 3-1 deficit with three runs in the seventh en route to their fourth straight victory.
The right-hander struck out four and did not walk a batter for the second time this season, handing Detroit its fifth straight defeat.
The Diamondbacks scored the go-ahead run on a two-out throwing error by third baseman Carlos Guillen.
Zach Miner (1-3) took the loss for Detroit.
ANGELS 4, DODGERS 2: Joe Saunders got back to winning after his lone loss of the year, and Vladimir Guerrero drove in two runs without a hit to help the Los Angeles Angels beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in Anaheim. Joe Torre, who had a losing record against the Angels during his tenure as manager of the New York Yankees, lost again in his first matchup with them as Dodgers manager.
TWINS 4, ROCKIES 2: Nick Blackburn pitched seven strong innings and Delmon Young doubled twice and scored two runs to lead visiting Minnesota to a win over Colorado. Matt Holliday was removed from the Rockies' starting lineup because of tightness in his lower back.
WHITE SOX 2, GIANTS 0: Alexei Ramirez hit his first major league homer, a two-run shot in the seventh that proved the difference for visiting Chicago. San Francisco had a baserunner aboard in every inning against starter Gavin Floyd (4-2), who withstood each threat and allowed just four hits over six innings. Four relievers finished the five-hitter for Chicago's fourth shutout, with Bobby Jenks getting three outs for his ninth save in 11 chances.
