1922: Sweetwater High School is dedicated.

1997: Joan Kroc, a Rancho Santa Fe resident and heiress to the McDonald's fast-food fortune, is revealed as the anonymous donor who had distributed millions – $2,000 to each family that suffered – in the flood that ravaged Grand Forks, N.D., and the neighboring city of East Grand Forks, Minn.
