Committee backs Street Scene fest

UNION-TRIBUNE

May 22, 2008

DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO – The Street Scene music festival received unanimous support last night from the Centre City Advisory Committee, an elected group of residents and business people.

However, the group said its support depends on limits being placed on attendance and the length of downtown San Diego street closures, and it demanded adequate provisions for litter and crowd control.

Promoter Rob Hagey has proposed using Tailgate Park for the festival on Sept. 19 and 20. He also wants to put stages on 13th and 14th streets.

City officials have told Hagey to work with community groups before he can secure permits.
