No burden too great

Paid sick leave bill latest assault on business

Few pronouncements should chill California business owners more than this: “I'm a San Francisco Democrat, and I know what's best for you.” On legislation large and small, Bay Area Democrats never see any burden as too onerous for businesses to bear. Now – with a measure requiring paid sick leave for any employee who works as few as seven days a year – this view is again on display.

    Leno's ludicrous legislation should stay dead

    Californians clearly supported allowing seriously ill and dying patients “medical marijuana” on a doctor's “recommendation.” Unfortunately, the well and lying get recommendations as easily as the seriously ill and dying. So much for voters' intent to distinguish the deserving from the self-serving.

      Was Rachael Ray supporting extremism?

      And now for a tempest that is totally ri-dunkulous. After an outcry from conservative commentators who see evil lurking everywhere, Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an online advertisement featuring celebrity chef Rachael Ray over concerns that a black-and-white scarf that Ray wore in the spot resembled a kaffiyeh, a traditional Arab headdress.
