Officials want to enhance safari atmosphere of animal park tour

NORTH COUNTY – Someday, the animals on the Journey into Africa tour will be in surround sound. The San Diego Zoo, operator of the Wild Animal Park in the San Pasqual Valley, plans to add eight exhibits to the year-old tour that takes guests around an “Africa” created in the North County countryside.

DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO – These days, Richard Wtorek feels like he has nowhere to go on weekends. The 51-year-old homeless man used to spend Saturday and Sunday at the Neil Good Day Center in downtown's East Village, a Spartan city building that provides a shower and a mailbox for people on the streets.
