Inmates reach out to their kids by reading to them on DVD

After issuing these directions, Tony Albers switches on the camcorder trained at D'Mario Thornton Sr. Seated in a stacking chair with his back up against a brick wall, and with no onlookers other than Albers, Thornton proceeds to give the performance of his life.

Girls need to end mean streak

“Harvest” time: preaching post-tragedy
Greg Laurie, leader of the popular Harvest Crusades, will be at Horizon Christian Fellowship in Rancho Santa Fe tomorrow for “Harvest in the Ranch.” The revivals – set for 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at 6365 El Apajo Road – also will feature concerts by the Christian rock band MercyMe.
